Born in the UK, though most of my life I've lived in other countries; for the better part of the past 21 years Thailand has been my home.
Since November 2010 I have been fortunate enough to travel to several counties both in Asia and Africa photographing some of the most spectacular wonders that Nature has to offer. My passion for animals began at an early age, as did my dream of becoming a professional wildlife photographer, although it took many years before I was able to commit the necessary time and resources to realise this dream.
The spark that ignited my passion for birds occurred much later in life, when I saw for the first time the strikingly beautiful iridescent colours of a Sunbird in a neighbour's garden by way of my first professional zoom lens. This “discovery” fired my curiosity to see what other colourful species of birds might inhabit my neighbourhood, and within a period of only 10 days I had already captured images of 16 different species – it was amazing to think that, for all the years I'd been living here in Thailand, so many of Nature's most enchanting gifts had been living all around me, and yet I rarely noticed any them for the simple reason I was always caught up in my everyday life!
For most people I would imagine it's the same: day to day life takes precedence; the need to take care of oneself and one's family comes first, and any surplus time is generally spent on various forms of rest, relaxation and entertainment, many people simply don't have the energy or drive to venture out into the wild or even take a trip to their local zoo. By way of the images I capture and create, my deepest desire is to rekindle and stimulate the delight, excitement, fascination and curiosity that most people surely experienced in childhood upon discovering that we share this earth with such a vast array of wonderfully unique living forms.
Thank you for taking an interest in my work and a special thanks to all of you who have been kind enough to leave appreciative comments on the pictures you like most.
